DKMS is driven to register more potential stem cell donors, provide as many blood cancer patients as possible with a second chance at life and increase access to transplantation for people with blood cancer and other blood disorders. As a member of the Fundraising & Community Engagement team, the Fundraising Assistant will support the fundraising initiatives for the organization across its markets in the US. The Assistant will be responsible for the administrative needs for the department, including gift processing, data entry, and general department support. A background in nonprofit fundraising is preferred but not required; candidates with administrative experience will be highly considered.


Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


  • Input received income and coordinate with Finance department
  • Prepare and send acknowledgment letters
  • Maintain accurate information in Salesforce and pull reports for mailings and analysis
  • Conduct donor and prospect research
  • Manage schedule of grant proposals, reports, and donor communications
  • Conduct research on new grant opportunities
  • Write drafts of donor communications
  • Work closely with the Head of Fundraising & Community Engagement to strategically improve support from businesses and promote sponsorship opportunities
  • Support peer-to-peer fundraising team, from recruitment of new Team DKMS partners to establishing fundraising pages, and supporting team members during their fundraising term

General Administration

  • Coordinate meetings (scheduling, distributing support materials, correspondence, meeting minutes)
  • Assist in the production of documents
  • Provide general office support as needed



  • Maintain and update contact lists
  • Distribute donor communications or other materials as needed
  • Draft social media content as needed


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially as it relates to collaborating with team members remotely and speaking with sponsors over the phone
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with Salesforce software or another database

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of professional experience, preferably in fundraising, development, or administrative support
  • Highly organized and resourceful
  • Must be proactive and detail-oriented
  • Proficient with technology
  • Proven ability to advance collaboration within the team
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Adaptability and strong leadership experience

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range for this position is $ $41,500 - $44,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
