Would you like experience designing and publishing an online newspaper and working with a cloud based CRM system?  We are seeking a local intern who is currently at the undergraduate college level or a senior in high school with a strong desire to pursue journalism and or writing

Time:  4 hours per week, unpaid, reports to Chamber President

Job Description – Media Intern - Pineville NC Chamber of Commerce

The Pineville NC Chamber is a young, dynamic organization whose business members are from Pineville and the surrounding communities of South Charlotte, Northern York and Northern Lancaster Counties.  The Chamber communicates with over 1500 contacts through its website, weekly mailers, its area business directory, and through social media including Facebook, LinkedIn and more.

The Chamber is embarking on a new effort to create a monthly business journal that will be published online in a flip book format, plus social media enhancements.  The Media Intern will be editing articles from contributors, and may in some cases write the articles directly and be responsible for flip book magazine layout design including articles and advertising, plus regular placement of social media news and events.  The intern will have exposure to senior executives spanning large corporations to small companies and will work in an entrepreneurial environment.  This is an opportunity to gain hands on experience and make a material impact to an organization.

  The ideal person has the following experience and qualifications:

  •  Has excellent writing skills and is interested in journalism/reporting.  Enjoys interacting with and collaborating with others.
  • Is knowledgeable in social media with the ability to do posts and knowledgeable in search engine optimization.
  • Has some graphic design experience with newsletters/magazines/catalogs or similar layouts.  Flipbook software experience a
  •  plus.
  • Is accomplishment driven – enjoys the discovery process and creating solutions where none previously exist.

The position will likely require 6-8 hours per week with certain weeks demanding slightly more or less time. 


There is modest hourly remuneration for the right candidate.  This position is a IRS 1099 contractor position.
